A new trailer for "Priscilla" dropped Tuesday, teasing scenes from the upcoming Sofia Coppola film about Elvis and Priscilla Presley's controversial courtship and marriage.
Starring Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla Presley and Jacob Elordi as Elvis, the trailer shows moments from what production company A24 calls "the unseen side of a great American myth," including a 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu meeting 24-year-old superstar Elvis in Germany, getting married to him and experiencing a turbulent relationship as the King of Rock 'n' Roll's wife.
The movie, in theaters on Nov. 3, is adapted from Priscilla Presley's 1985 biography, "Elvis and Me." It premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month and boasts a 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating based on critics' reviews.
"It’s very difficult to sit and watch a film about you, about your life, about your love," Priscilla Presley said at the film festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She revealed that she spoke "a couple of times" with Coppola and "really put everything out for her that I could" to help with the film.
Presley insisted that, despite their age gap, her relationship with Elvis was rooted in mutual respect.
"Even though I was 14, I was actually a little bit older in life — not in numbers," she said. "That was the attraction. People think, ‘Oh, it was sex.’ No, it wasn’t. I never had sex with him. He was very kind, very soft, very loving, but he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old. We were more in line in thought, and that was our relationship."
Presley added that their relationship ending was not "because I didn’t love him — he was the love of my life."
